In a world full of scummy supplement companies just preying on consumers — selling sugar powders hyped as miracle cures — we’ve unfortunately come to a point where many people don’t actually know which supplements will work for them, and which ones won’t.
In this quick article, I’m going to show you four of my favorite testosterone supplements that I believe every man should be taking; and the best part is — they have mountains of scientific research behind them proving their efficacy in men.
In my 10 years of researching men’s health, these are four of my favorite, most effective ingredients that I personally take daily and recommend to all of my male clients.
1. Ashwagandha Root Extract (Organic KSM-66)
Ashwagandha helps boost testosterone levels. It is one the most impressive adaptogenic herbs on the market today. It has been studied more than any other herb and has shown to illicit profound benefits in humans if taken in the right dosage.
Studies have shown that Ashwagandha:
- Lowers the feeling of stress and fights against chronic levels of the stress hormone cortisol
- Reduces anxiety
- Helps promote deep and restful sleep
- Improves cognition
- Improves physical performance
- Improves low-testosterone by increasing baseline T-levels
Note: These studies used a high quality form of organic Ashwagandha called KSM-66. This type of Ashwagandha has double the withanolide content compared to other types, meaning it is twice as potent! Organic KSM-66 Ashwagandha is the best type of Ashwagandha available.
In order to elicit these beneficial effects, research shows that a dosage of 300-500 mg taken 1-2 times per day of Organic KSM-66 Ashwagandha is needed.
2. Boron Citrate
Boron is a rare trace-mineral that is one of the most underrated supplements for men. It is an incredible mineral, and it deserves much more attention than it is currently getting.
Studies have shown that Boron:
- Decreases inflammation
- Decreases levels of estrogen
- Increases levels of total and free testosterone
I recommend supplementing with boron citrate as it is the most bioavailable form of boron and the most easily absorbed by the body.
Pro tip: The proper dosage of Boron is 3-10 mg per day. However, a higher dosage of 10 mg per day has been shown to illicit a greater hormonal response in humans.
Taking 10 mg of boron per day for seven days has shown to increase free testosterone by 28 percent, decrease estrogen levels by 39 percent, and increase DHT by 10 percent! Another study shows that taking 6 mg of boron for 60 days will increase your testosterone levels by 29 percent (in men).
3. Magnesium Citrate
What’s the relationship between magnesium and testosterone?
Magnesium is a micronutrient that is highly beneficial to male hormonal health. It is responsible for regulating over 300 bodily enzymatic functions! Yet, the majority of western males are deficient in this crucial micronutrient, which in turn leads to lower testosterone levels.
Fixing a magnesium deficiency is an extremely important factor in rebalancing your hormonal health.
Studied benefits of Magnesium include:
- Higher free testosterone levels
- Improved sleep quality
- Improved insulin sensitivity
- Improved blood pressure
Pro tip: Magnesium comes in many different forms. Research shows that the most easily absorbed and bioavailable form is magnesium citrate.
The clinically effective dose shown to be effective in humans is 100-400 mg of magnesium citrate per day. However, it is better to stay on the lower end of the recommended dosage. Higher dosages of magnesium can lead to gastric upset.
How about zinc and testosterone?
Zinc is by far the most important mineral needed for optimal testosterone production. It’s often called the “master mineral of the endocrine system.”
Similar to magnesium, the majority of men are deficient in zinc, since it’s often difficult to acquire through diet alone. Thus highlighting the importance of supplementing with zinc daily.
Pro tip: The recommended clinically effective dosage is between 5-45 mg of bioavailable zinc per day.
Studies have shown that zinc supplementation leads to:
- Increases in total and free testosterone levels
- Down regulation of estrogen production
- Increases in thyroid hormones
- Increases in DHT levels
In order to get these desired results, there are three bioavailable forms of zinc we recommend supplementing with daily. These include zinc picolinate, citrate and gluconate.
The Best Way to Take These 4 Supplements to Increase Testosterone
I’ve advised thousands of men over the last decade on how to increase their testosterone naturally, helping them reclaim their masculinity and sense of manhood.
Many asked for an “all-in-one” supplement they could take to optimize their testosterone. Yet I simply could not recommend any of the testosterone supplements on the market because the majority of them:
- Contain “proprietary blends” which do not allow you to see the exact dosages of any individual ingredient. Therefore you have no idea if the supplement contains the right dosage of ingredients to illicit the desired results.
- Do not contain the most bioavailable form of individual ingredients, so your body cannot absorb these ingredients.
- Have no peer-reviewed research showing the effectiveness of the ingredients in humans.
So for the longest time, I recommended buying the individual ingredients separately. However, this was extremely expensive and inconvenient.
Therefore, out of necessity, I came up with my own supplement that contains the most bioavailable and natural ingredients in the right clinically effective dosages, that have actually been proven to work in humans.
I call it Testro-X.
Testro-X is the perfect formulation of nine all natural ingredients that are 100 percent research backed and have been proven to work in men. If you’re looking for an all-in-one supplement to improve your testosterone naturally, then look no further.
