7 Thermo Diet-Friendly Cinco de Mayo Cocktails That Aren’t Margaritas

Margaritas are among the most loved cocktails in the U.S. They are fruity. They are delicious. They’re made with tequila, which — for those of you who are on the thyroid-healing Thermo Diet — does not disrupt the endocrine system or your body’s hormonal health like whiskey or beer. But conventionally-prepared margaritas are also full of refined sugar, which is not the best choice for anyone’s health or waistline. Thankfully, Cinco de Mayo gives us an opportunity to experiment with tequila drinks!

While alcohol is not typically part of any fitness routine, letting your hair down is important because it burns off excess stress hormones. And if we can’t raise a glass every Cinco de Mayo to celebrate Mexico’s victory over the French in the Franco-Mexican war, then, really, what is this even all about?

Its cultural meaning has developed over time and now inspires everyone to celebrate their freedoms with festivities! And there is nothing more festive than these seven Thermo-Friendly Cinco de Mayo cocktails that are not margaritas.

Thermo Sunrise

  • 1.5 oz tequila
  • 3/4 c organic orange juice
  • 1 oz organic pomegranate juice

Add ingredients to a cocktail shaker with ice and shake. Pour into glass and garnish with a slice of blood orange.

Shy Panda

  • 1.5 oz mescal
  • 1 tbsp shaved turmeric
  • 3 oz organic ginger beer
  • Turmeric powder
  • Organic candied ginger

Add mezcal, shaved turmeric and ginger beer into a shaker of ice. Shake and strain into a tumbler with a turmeric-powdered rim. Garnish with ginger candy.

Blazing Squid

  • 1.5 oz mezcal
  • 2 oz organic cherry juice
  • 1 tbsp jalapeno juice
  • Juice of 1/2 lime

Combine all ingredients into a shaker of ice, shake and then pour into a tumbler. Garnish with a slice of lime.

Berry Boost

  • 2 oz tequila
  • 2 c frozen organic strawberries

Blend ingredients and serve in a glass with a salted rim.

Dirty Pontini

  • 2 oz potato vodka
  • 2 tbsp pickled green olive juice
  • Several green olives

Pour potato vodka and olive juice into a shaker of ice. Shake and strain into a martini glass. Garnish with olives.

Pepper Mule

  • 1.5 oz potato vodka
  • 3 oz organic ginger beer
  • 1/4 tsp. Jalapeno juice
  • Juice of 1/2 lime

Slowly stir in ingredients into a tumbler. Garnish with a slice of pickled jalapeño.

Cabo Sunset

  • 1.5 oz tequila
  • 3 oz organic blood orange juice
  • 1 oz lemon juice
  • 1/2 small chili pepper
  • Several sprigs of cilantro

Combine liquid ingredients into a shaker of ice, shake and strain into a tumbler. Garnish with the pepper and cilantro.
